CHESTER, Pennsylvania (AP) -Philadelphia Union boosted its chances of a berth in the Major League Soccer playoffs, beating D.C. United 3-2 on Thursday to move to second place in the Eastern Conference.
Sebastien Le Toux scored twice in the first half and Michael Farfan netted the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute for Philadelphia, which is unbeaten in five games and moved within a point of East leaders Sporting Kansas City.
Le Toux gave the Union a 2-0 lead with goals in the fourth minute and then again in the 15th minute. He has scored nine goals in the past eight matches.
But D.C. United responded quickly through Dwayne De Rosario's goal in the 22nd minute. De Rosario leads the league with 14 goals and 11 have come since he joined D.C. United.
Andy Najar equalized in the 30th minute before Farfan put the Union on top for good.
With five games to play, D.C. United is one point behind New York for the final playoff spot.
