Ultram for the quality of your life | Healthy Education

You should be healthy and active and living life to the fullest, right? But how do you do that with chronic pain from injury or arthritis? The not so easy answer is work through the pain. I?m not talking about being a professional athlete. I?m talking about little things you can do every day to increase your mobility, muscle strength, and decrease your need for medication.

Stretch

Before your feet hit the floor in the morning take the time to do a simple stretch. Pull your arms up over your head, take a deep breath, exhale bringing them wide, and down. Pull you legs up, and stretch those out as far as you can, stretching your feet. Rotate you feet and ankles. When you sleep, the blood pools in the torso, stretching gives a wakeup call to your muscles and helps put some much need blood back into the arms and legs before doing the work for walking and dressing.

If you sit for more than an hour get up and move

Many of us are stuck in jobs that have us sitting most of the day. This is very bad for our hearts, cardiovascular system, and muscles. When you do get up then your chronic pain probably spikes, and you want to take your medicine like Ultram. Go ahead, but also make it a point once an hour to get up and move. If you can do 5 + knee bends (squats). Go as far down as you can, keep your lower leg as perpendicular to the floor as possible, and never go all the way to the floor. The ability to d a squat means you are less likely to need physical assistance as you age. Can?t do squats yet, then rock up onto your toes and back down for a minute. I you need to hold onto your desk to exercise, it is ok. Just moving a little will increase your mobility and decrease your risk heart attack, stroke, and deep vein thrombosis.

Treat the pain

An amazingly active elderly friend of mine always says ?They can?t bury you if your still moving?. For those of us with chronic back pain or arthritic pain, just lying still seems like a good idea. The reality is the less you move the less you will be able to move. Talk to your doctor about pain management and using Ultram to give you back your freedom to move.
